Artwork Description:
In 2010-ies Nicholaas Chiao conceived a series of unauthorized portraits based on the photographs of art collectors from ArtNews' Top 100 Art Collectors list. Only the most successful of those paintings remained - the rest were simply destroyed by the artist. This painting shows the face of the man on a black background. It is Baconesque-distorted and somewhat reminiscent of a beaten-to-blood man. Assuming that it was not so liked by people to be part of such an experiment on portraiture without their consent it explains why nearly all of those paintings were destroyed without even images remaining.
