Artwork Description:
Nicholaas Chiao created The Hysteria in about 2012 as a triptych of a screaming woman on a deep black background. The Artist has studied the art of Pablo Picasso and Francis Bacon, and their work affected this painting. The direct influence was the imagery of a church chorus, photographed by the artist during his work on a project with a jazz musician he met on his opening in New York for the show Time and Measures in 2007.
