Artwork Description:
In the Angel of Fig Tree artist depicted an old woman in the national costume as a Death with a scythe. A lot of works dealing with the themes of mortality were created by Nicholaas Chiao as a response to the deaths of his grandparents in Minsk. This painting also reminds us of the work of Diego Velasquez, whose portraits were always admired by Chiao.
